All-Church Mission Initiative

Baby Grace Ministry

St. John’s began a Missions Initiative, Baby Grace, in 2012.  We are part of an initiative of 18 United Methodist churches in the Missouri Conference: Baby Grace Ministries.  St. John’s introduced the ministry to the urban Kansas City area and now partners with Revolution UMC.  While each of the programs operates a bit differently, they share a philosophy: “Every child, regardless of the circumstances that brought them into the world, deserves unconditional love and grace”

Our shared mission statement is: “To share God’s love and grace by offering material, emotional, and spiritual support and development for families with young children.”

Baby Grace began at the Buckner UMC in 2006 as an outreach for teen mothers in the Fort Osage School District. The ministry quickly grew to support any young parents with children, newborn to age five, in the greater metro area. Our ministry serves children and families by supplying disposable diapers and wipes on a monthly basis, and clothing, childcare items, toys and books on a quarterly basis.  Baby Grace also offers a spiritual outreach of prayers, support and camp scholarships. We add new programs each year to help move the families from poverty and to help them better use their available monies..

To volunteer to be part of this ministry please contact: Ruth Gerald, Missions Team Chairman at ragerald@netscape.net.
