When circumstance or crisis in your life leads you to seek God’s intervention, you may turn to us for intercessory prayer.

 

Prayer Friends Ministry

 This group of dedicated St. John’s congregants is committed to praying for those on our Intercessory Prayer List and any additional prayer requests.  An internet-based notification system coordinates requests and updates information as received. The circumstances of your request will be kept confidential.

Our Mission

By example and invitation our mission is to pray, to teach others to pray, to teach a variety of prayer practices, to provide prayer opportunities and participate in the fulfillment of St. John’s vision and mission.

 

 In addition to the Prayer Friends Ministry, the Prayer Team also provides these supportive services:

 

Periodic Special Prayer Services and times for prayer and resting in the Spirit.

 

Prayer Table is located in the Rotunda of the church and is frequently updated and stocked with prayer materials.  CareNotes booklets are available on a variety of subject including

Grief/Loss,
Health Issues,
Emotional/Spiritual Care,
Elder Care/Decisions,
Family Life,
Teen Issues and
Children’s Issues.

Living Streams

 

Each Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 pm in Guice Library (main floor, south door): a service of prayer, reflection, sharing and Communion.

First Wednesday of each month Anointing is offered.

 

 

 

Lenten Prayer Vigil

 

This is a self-directed service of personal prayer time with Prayer Materials, Prayer Candles and Quiet Time.  The opportunity for Anointing/Pastoral Prayer will be offered throughout the vigil.

The Upper Room Living Prayer Center

The Upper Room Living Prayer Center is a 7-day-a-week intercessory prayer ministry staffed by Christian volunteers. You can submit a prayer request to the website above, and you request will be emailed to the Center’s Covenant Prayer Groups. You can also call us at 1.800.252.2468 (7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. CST) and a volunteer will pray with you. Your request will then be emailed to the Covenant Prayer Groups.

Contemplative Outreach

Contemplative Outreach is a spiritual network of individuals and small faith communities committed to living the contemplative dimension of the Gospel. The common desire for Divine transformation, primarily expressed through a commitment to a daily Centering Prayer practice, unites our international, interdenominational community.

Today, Contemplative Outreach annually serves more than 40,000 people. It  supports over 120 active contemplative chapters in 39 countries; supports more than 800 prayer groups; teaches more than 15,000 people the practice of Centering Prayer and other contemplative practices through locally-hosted workshops. The organization also provides training and resources to local chapters and volunteers. It publishes and distributes the wisdom teachings of Fr. Thomas Keating and other resources that support contemplative life.
