Thank You for Your Donations

Thank you to those of you who have donated children’s clothing, toys, and diapers to St. John’s Baby Grace Ministry.   Your help is greatly appreciated by the poverty stricken families this ministry serves. We will continue to collect any donated items. Please place in the playpen at the top of the entrance stairs. A donation receipt for tax purposes may be found in the picket attached to this playpen.  Many thanks for your generosity, thoughtfulness and support!

A Reminder of Our Snow Policy:

If both the Kansas City Missouri School District AND the Shawnee Mission School District are closed because of inclement weather, we will also be closed. If one remains open, we will be open.   Please check your local TV station, radio, or these districts’ websites for closings, as we do not list St. John’s PDO separately and do not call you. This information also applies to both districts dismissing early because of bad weather.

For Your Safety

Please do not  leave the entrance/exit door open, prop the door open, or let anyone in who does not have a code. We want to continue to keep our church a safe and secure environment for your children.  Thank you.

Classroom News

Crib Room:

We have made so much progress. No more crying is being heard! We now enjoy playing with our friends and are even learning their names! We love our big play room downstairs, the courtyard, and our strollers!  We are enjoying finger plays, dancing, and singing. Some of our favorite songs are “A,B,C”, and “Wheels on the Bus“. We have some new toys and have been excited to play with them. Please remember to send a crib sheet and a “sippy” cup (for morning drinks) with your child each week and continue labeling your child‘s belongings. We also need your child’s picture for our door if you have not sent one. The children love looking at each other’s pictures! Thank you.

Toddler Room:

We enjoyed learning about fall and Thanksgiving through our art projects, stories, songs and activities.   We were so proud of our “handprint” turkeys and our Thanksgiving cornucopia. We have learned many new songs and finger plays since the beginning of the school year.  Some of our favorites are “A,B,C“, “Wheels on the Bus”, “If You’re Happy and You Know It”, “Five Little Monkeys,” “Hokey Pokey” and now, ”Jingle Bells“!  We have loved going outside on warmer fall days and playing in our big playroom downstairs on these colder days. Please remember to send a a “sippy” cup (for morning drinks) with your child each week and continue labeling your child‘s belongings. Please send a picture for our bulletin board if you have not.

Preschool Room:

We had fun with all our Thanksgiving projects and learned about sharing and working together. Some of our projects we enjoyed were taking nature walks, yarn painting leaves,  learning about different shapes, making pumpkin pie slices,  feathered turkeys and an “I am Thankful for…” collage. We learned some funny turkey songs, as well as facts about the first Thanksgiving. Some of our favorite songs are “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”, “Turkey Dinner“, and now songs for our Christmas Program! We continue working on shapes, colors, size, and number concepts through activities, stories, and projects. Our letters for this month were J and K.  We also continue stressing the importance of being kind to one another, cooperating, listening, and following directions.  Please send a picture for our bulletin board if you have not.

Older Preschool Room:

We had fun decorating our room with our popcorn Indian corn craft and making our turkey for our bulletin board in the hallway. We learned about the letters I and J, the number 4, triangle shapes, and the color yellow. We talked about the different types of leaves and the changing of seasons, along with facts about Indians, Pilgrims, and Thanksgiving. We learned about different parts of our body and had fun making our two “Body People” on display in the hallway. We had fun talking about different pets and making our deer food and gingerbread houses. We also continue stressing the importance of being kind to one another, cooperating, listening, and following directions. Please send a picture for our bulletin board if you have not.

Our Chapel theme for the Preschool and Older Preschool rooms this past month was “Thank You, God, for Food and Family”.

Our December theme is “Happy Birthday, Jesus!”
